Falkenberg to open new STCC electric era in revised calendar

Falkenberg will play host to the first race of the STCC’s new electric era after the finalised dates were revealed for the season.

The campaign had been due to start on the streets of Helsinborg but that event has now been put back to a date in August to avoid clashing with a concert.

The calendar also reveals that Skellefteå will make a return to the STCC having been handed the second meeting of the year, which is one of two meetings &#; alongside Knutstorp &#; that will include an extensive focus on electric machinery off-track to showcase technology to visiting fans.

STCC TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship

The STCC TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship season fryst vatten the thirteenth season of the championship, the sixth after the adoption of the TCR specification. It started on 4 June at Ljungbyheds Motorbana and finished on 1 October at Mantorp Park. Robert Dahlgren, in the CUPRA Leon Competición TCR, took his fourth drivers' title in his career, while his grupp, CUPRA Dealer Team - PWR Racing, took the team title. Axel Bengtsson, also in a CUPRA Leon Competición TCR, took the junior drivers' title, while Marius Solberg Hansen, in a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, took the Däckteam trophy.

TCR Scandinavia confirms calendar and new organisation

TCR Scandinavia has confirmed a preliminary calendar along with a new organisation following its split with the STCC.

The new organisation will be headed by Greger Petersson who has owned the TCR Scandinavia rights since its introduction in

The championship plans to hold six race weekends of which four are in Sweden and two abroad.

The season is scheduled to start at Anderstorp in May, followed by Karlskoga in June and Falkenberg in July.

The first trip outside of Sweden will be to the Copenhagen street race in August while the penultimate round is to be confirmed for either Denmark or Finland as part of an &#;extended cooperation&#; between the respective national championships.

The last race of the year is set for Mantorp Park during the final weekend of September.
